So… I Finally Started Vlogging (Late but Committed)

Alright. Deep breath.
I’ve finally launched my YouTube channel in this link named @wheresniskie
Yes, in 2025. Yes, I’m painfully aware this should’ve happened years ago.

I’ve been traveling since 2022, collecting a concerning amount of video footage I never edited. It’s been sitting in folders named things like “edit me pls” and “final_final_real_final.mp4.”
And only recently did I realize: YouTube prefers landscape videos.
Amazing except I shot 90% of my videos in portrait, please forgive me.

But hey we’re rolling with it.
I’ve got so many clips to share (and overthink). My goal is to upload regularly, starting with my recent adventures first twice a week. The older ones will come too, eventually… probably when I run out of excuses.

Why Vlogging? And Why Now?

I’ve been meaning to do this since I hiked the Himalayas.
That trip changed me spiritually, emotionally, and in my thigh muscles.
I wanted people to experience those moments with me. Not just the views, but the struggles: the stairs, the altitude, the “should I call my parents and go home?” moments.

Since then, I’ve felt this pull to document and share more of my adventures.
Not in a “here’s a perfect travel aesthetic” way but in a “watch me survive this slightly terrifying hike while still romanticizing my iced coffee” way.

So yes — I’m finally doing it.
And not just as a hobby.
I really want this to be my full-time thing soon.
Creating videos. Telling stories. Traveling the world (and the 82 provinces of the Philippines, still working on that!).
That’s the dream. And I’m chasing it, step by step, vlog by vlog.

I’d like to thank my family and friends who have supported and guided me through this and I won’t let you down. Naks. Hahaha

What To Expect?

• The wild ride through all 82 Philippine provinces (and international travel shenanigans)
• Concerts, musicals, and me screaming lyrics I barely know
• Food I obsess over. Strangers who become friends. Flights I almost missed… and some I definitely did (oops).
• Occasional identity crises, served with a side of humor and voiceovers

So, whether you’re here for the views, the food, or to watch someone figure out how to be a YouTuber in real-time – welcome.
Let’s see where this goes.

P.S. Yes, I’m still blogging. It’s my semi-organized journal of travel, chaos, and oversharing. Maybe one day it’ll graduate into a full website… fingers crossed.

Love,
Maria, sometimes, Niskie

Quote of the week

“Here’s my advice for dealing with love or family trauma: accept the apology you’re never going to get and move on. There, I just saved you PHP10,000 in therapy. You’re welcome.”
