Pobla Night: June 03-04

I’ve gone to some of the best bars in the world, but nothing really compares the companionship of friends to those bars. When my friends and I get together, we party like there’s no tomorrow, but I don’t do it very often.

You have museum buddies, park friends, travel friends, breakfast friends, coffee friends, and of course, party people — Leng and AJ. I yearned for them! I haven’t seen AJ in forever. We used to enjoy going to EDM concerts and raves together. I can’t even put into words how excited I am to be writing this. There were just too many good times packed into one evening; this is why I enjoy going out so much. I’m at a point in my life where I want to move out and travel the world, but if I meet the right partner, I might consider settling down.

I’ve been trying to claw my way back to happiness since leaving Singapore, and I’ve finally landed in the Philippines, where I can drink the best cocktails and beers. I can’t wait to share my experiences at the best beer bars in the Philippines with my pals on my blog.

Many of Makati’s most popular clubs and restaurants can be found in the Poblacion area, making it the “party capital” of the city. In many ways, Poblacion is like Singapore’s Haji Lane.

A bar with a brightly illuminated neon sign stands out on the busy streets of Poblacion. It’s a photogenic pub where the staff dress as superheroes or Chucky dolls. Truth be told, I’d rather have the best tasting meal than the most aesthetically pleasing design. In spite of the fact that the bar itself is quite appealing, I was disappointed by the quality of the cuisine they served. The food was overpriced and lacked flavor, with the exception of the incredibly creamy strawberry milkshake. Enjoyed myself much, but won’t return only for the food and pictures. You only need to visit this establishment once to see if you like it.

Secret Door

A hidden passageway along Poblacion leads to the location of the Secret Door. And the staff is friendly, and the music is great, and there’s a dance floor, too. It opens at 9 o’clock at night and stays open until either everybody is intoxicated or your friends start breaking glasses. I longed to go out and drink again, whether it was tequila, whisky, beer, or hookah shisha. Smoking isn’t something I particularly enjoy anymore, but it’s Friday night and we were toasting my brother’s brother, so what the hell! The night was wild and entertaining despite the mediocre beverages. It was the best night of my life!

My face is swollen after having an impacted tooth removed, so I’m going to have to put my plans on wait for the next two weeks. After that, I definitely need a drink.
